The Eurofighter Typhoon is a European twin-engine, canard delta wing, multirole fighter. The Typhoon was designed originally as an air superiority fighter and is manufactured by a consortium of Airbus, BAE Systems and Leonardo that conducts the majority of the project through a joint holding company, Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbH. The NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency, representing the UK, Germany, Italy and Spain manages the project and is the prime customer. Primary Role: Multirole Fighter, Air Superiority Fighter.
Following the Falklands War of April 2, 1982 until June 1, 1982 the Stanley Airfield was heavily damaged so No. 1435 was reformed using Harrier GR.1 jets until May 1985 when the unit was disbanded. In 1988 No. 1435 received 4 Phantom FGR.2s before converting to 4 Panavia Tornado F3s in 1992. In 2009 4 Eurofighter Typhoon FGR4 arrived at RAF Mount Pleasant in the Falklands to protect the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands. ZK301/D c/n BS053 built in 2009 was one of the Eurofighters.
