The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is an American supersonic, twin-engine, two-seat, twin-tail, variable-sweep wing fighter aircraft. The Tomcat was developed for the United States Navy's Naval Fighter Experimental (VFX) program after the collapse of the F-111B project. The F-14 was the first of the American Teen Series fighters, which were designed incorporating air combat experience against MiG fighters during the Vietnam War. Primary Role: Interceptor, Air Superiority, And Multirole Fighter.

VF-84 ôJolly Rogersö flew the F-14A Tomcat from 1976 until October 1, 1995 when it was disestablished. VF-84 had been assigned to the USS Nimitz from December 1977 until July 1987. F-14A Tomcat 160391/AJ210 C/N 247 wears a paint scheme that was typical for the 1970s. VF-84 aircraft appeared in the movie ôThe Final Countdownö filmed in 1979. In 1988 AJ-210 became AJ-202 and in 1995 went to VF-101. In 1999 the aircraft was withdrawn from service and loaned to the Texas Air Museum. The F-14 was the last of the ôCatö fighters.
