The Boeing F/A-18E and F/A-18F Super Hornet are twin-engine, carrier-capable, multirole fighter aircraft variants based on the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet. The F/A-18E single-seat and F/A-18F tandem-seat variants are larger and more advanced derivatives of the F/A-18C and D Hornet. Primary Role: Carrier-Based Multirole Fighter.

F/A-18E 165536 spent time with VX-31 ôDust Devilsö and later VX-23 ôSalty Dogsö. In early 2018 this aircraft joined two other F/A-18s for the filming of the movie ôTop Gun: Maverickö as a ôHero Jetö for Captain Pete ôMaverickö Mitchell. When filming finished it was sent to be converted for duties with the ôBlue Angelsö aerobatic team. Next the aircraft went to Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 23 (VX-23). On July 27, 2020 165536 was the first F/A-18E to join the ôBlue Angelsö and received the #1.
