The Boeing F/A-18E and F/A-18F Super Hornet are twin-engine, carrier-capable, multirole fighter aircraft variants based on the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet. VFA-122 “Flying Eagles” NAS Lemoore, California is a Fleet Replacement Squadron tasked with training new pilots, pilots changing to a different type of aircraft or a pilot that needs refreshing having being away from flying for an extended period of time. VFA-122 also travels to some air shows to encourage recruitment. One such air show was held at RAF Fairford, England in 2006 and F/A-18F Super Hornet 166673 was there performing as part of the USN Tactical Demonstration Team and has since been sent to the VX-9 "Vampires".
