The Northrop Grumman (formerly Grumman) EA-6B Prowler is a twin-engine, four-seat, mid-wing electronic-warfare aircraft derived from the A-6 Intruder airframe. The EA-6A was the initial electronic warfare version of the A-6 used by the United States Marine Corps and United States Navy. Development on the more advanced EA-6B began in 1966. An EA-6B aircrew consists of one pilot and three Electronic Countermeasures Officers, though it is not uncommon for only two ECMOs to be used on missions. It is capable of carrying and firing anti-radiation missiles (ARMs), such as the AGM-88 HARM. Primary Role: Electronic Warfare/Attack Aircraft.

Based on the A-6 Intruder the Northrop Grumman (formerly Grumman) EA-6B Prowler primary mission is to support strike aircraft and ground forces by interrupting enemy electronics and gathering tactical intelligence. The aircraft carries 4-crew and is in service with the USN and USMC. The first USN EA-6B was retired on June 10, 2011 and the last carrier deployment by an EA-6B took place on November 14, 2014. The USN will replace the EA-6B with the Boeing EA-18G Growler. The USMC will continue using the EA-6B until 2019.

VAQ-133 (Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron) ôWizardsö was first established in 1969 equipped with the Douglas EKA-3B Skywarrior. Originally stationed in California the ôWizardsö moved to NAS Whidbey Island, Washington in 1971 and reequipped with the EA-6B Prowler. In 1992 VAQ-133 was disestablished only to be reestablished in 1996 and re-designated VAQ-133 (Electronic Attack Squadron) in 1998. From July 2007 until January 2008 VAQ-133 EA-6B Prowler 161120 / NL-530 (c/n P-84) was based at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan to support Operation Enduring Freedom. 161120 later transferred to VAQ-131 Lancers as NE-501.
