The General Dynamics / Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single-engine supersonic multirole fighter aircraft originally developed by General Dynamics for the United States Air Force (USAF). Designed as an air superiority day fighter, it evolved into a successful all-weather multirole aircraft. Over 4,600 aircraft have been built since production was approved in 1976. Although no longer being purchased by the U.S. Air Force, improved versions are being built for export customers. In 1993, General Dynamics sold its aircraft manufacturing business to the Lockheed Corporation, which in turn became part of Lockheed Martin after a 1995 merger with Martin Marietta. Primary Role: Multirole fighter, Air Superiority Fighter.
Lockheed F-16C Block 52+ MSN XK-24 99-1523 / 523 joined the HAF 115 PM in November 2003 and remained there until September 2007 when it transferred to HAF 340 Mira ôFoxö Squadron, So·da Air Base, Crete. In June 2016 the aircraft received a special paint scheme ôZeus IIIö representing the father of the Olympian Gods of the Ancient Greek Mythology. This F-16C was the solo aircraft for the 2016 Hellenic Air Force Zeus Demo Team. The F-16C Block 52+ is equipped with conformal fuel tanks.
