The General Dynamics / Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single-engine supersonic multirole fighter aircraft originally developed by General Dynamics for the United States Air Force (USAF). Designed as an air superiority day fighter, it evolved into a successful all-weather multirole aircraft. Over 4,600 aircraft have been built since production was approved in 1976. Although no longer being purchased by the U.S. Air Force, improved versions are being built for export customers. In 1993, General Dynamics sold its aircraft manufacturing business to the Lockheed Corporation, which in turn became part of Lockheed Martin after a 1995 merger with Martin Marietta. Primary Role: Multirole fighter, Air Superiority Fighter.

The aircraft was obtain under FMS Program Peace Marble II and received by the IDF 101 Squadron “First Squadron” and in July 1991 was transferred to the 109 Squadron “Sun Valley Squadron”. During the 2006 Lebanon War or July War as it is known in Lebanon that lasted from July 12 to August 14, 2006 Israeli F-16C 364 and F-16D 074 shot down two or three Hezbollah-operated UAVs using Python-5 missiles.
