The General Dynamics / Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single-engine supersonic multirole fighter aircraft originally developed by General Dynamics for the United States Air Force (USAF). Designed as an air superiority day fighter, it evolved into a successful all-weather multirole aircraft. Over 4,600 aircraft have been built since production was approved in 1976. Although no longer being purchased by the U.S. Air Force, improved versions are being built for export customers. In 1993, General Dynamics sold its aircraft manufacturing business to the Lockheed Corporation, which in turn became part of Lockheed Martin after a 1995 merger with Martin Marietta. Primary Role: Multirole fighter, Air Superiority Fighter.
For the first time ever Greece hosted a NATO Tiger Meet (NTM). Between May 9 and May 20 the ˘2022 NATO Tiger Meet÷ was held at Araxos AB home of the 335 Squadron ˘Aegean Tigers÷. This squadron is the oldest of the Hellenic Air Force established in 9141. The aircraft chosen to represent the 335 for ˘NTM 2022÷ was F-16C 1045 that is a hybrid aircraft comprised of Block 50 equipment but has Block 52+Adv electronics and equipment with a General Electric F110-GE-100 engine. This aircraft is the only 4 digit tail number in the HAF.
