The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet is a twin-engine, supersonic, all-weather, carrier-capable, multirole combat jet, designed as both a fighter and attack aircraft (hence the F/A designation). Designed by McDonnell Douglas (now part of Boeing) and Northrop (now part of Northrop Grumman), the F/A-18 was designed to be a highly versatile aircraft due to its avionics, cockpit displays, and excellent aerodynamic characteristics, with the ability to carry a wide variety of weapons. Spain ordered 60 EF-18A and 12 EF-18B Hornets (E=Espana, Spain) that were delivered between November 1985 and July 1990. The wing is equipped with the EF-18A/B. In 2008 C15-34 c/n 638/A530 code 12-50 was given a special paint scheme to honor the ALA 12 50th Anniversary and continued to wear this scheme for several years. These aircraft were later upgraded to F-18A+/B+.
