The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet is a twin-engine, supersonic, all-weather, carrier-capable, multirole combat jet, designed as both a fighter and attack aircraft (hence the F/A designation). Designed by McDonnell Douglas (now part of Boeing) and Northrop (now part of Northrop Grumman), the F/A-18 was designed to be a highly versatile aircraft due to its avionics, cockpit displays, and excellent aerodynamic characteristics, with the ability to carry a wide variety of weapons. The aircraft can perform fighter escort, fleet air defense, suppression of enemy air defenses, air interdiction, close air support, and aerial reconnaissance. Primary Role: Multirole Fighter.

F/A-18A A21-23 c/n 483/AF023 was delivered to the RAAF on February 8, 1988. In 2002 the aircraft was with the 75 Sqn and was selected to wear the special paint scheme for the unitÆs 60th anniversary. In 2006 the aircraft went to the 3 Sqn but soon returned to 75 Sqn. On February 24, 2015 F/A-18A A21-23 was unveiled wearing a special paint scheme called ôWorimi Hornetö in honor of Leonard Waters and the aboriginal people. Len was the first RAAF aboriginal fighter pilot during WWII where he flew 95 missions.
