The McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II is a tandem two-seat, twin-engine, all-weather, long-range supersonic jet interceptor and fighter-bomber originally developed for the United States Navy by McDonnell Aircraft. It first entered service in 1961 with the Navy. Proving highly adaptable, it was also adopted by the United States Marine Corps and the United States Air Force, and by the mid-1960s had become a major part of their air arms. Primary Role: Interceptor, Fighter-Bomber.
F-4C 63-7647 was delivered to the 8th TFW in 1964 and deployed in August 1965 to Korat, RTAB. During the Vietnam War the aircraft served with several squadrons. On June 5, 1967 while with the 555th TFS Major R.M. Pascoe and Captain N.E. Wells scored the warĘs last MiG kill. After several more moves the aircraft transferred to the Hawaii ANG 199th TFS/154th TFG in 1978 where it remained until 1987 then going to the Oregon ANG 114th TFTS/142nd FIG. In 1989 the aircraft retired to the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, McMinnville, Oregon.
