Her final flight was a brief 20-minute delivery hop from RAF Scampton to Southend Airport, where she has resided ever since under the dedicated stewardship of the Vulcan Restoration Trust.

In March 1997, XL426 performed her first fast taxi demonstration along Southend's main runway, an event that has since become a phenomenon among aviation enthusiasts.
