1/72 A-24 BANSHEE, US ARMY, 1942 Java. The A-24 based on the Douglas Dauntless with a large pneumatic tail wheel and the tail hook removed. Never meant to be a front-line aircraft the Banshee was only to be used until the arrival of the more powerful A-25 and then it was to be used as a dive-bomber trainer. Because of the out break of WWII and delays with the A-25 the A-24 was forced into action. Due to heavy losses the A-24 was withdrawn and to the role it was initially intended, training. A shipment of crated A-24 Banshees was destined for the Philippines but when the Japanese captured the islands the aircraft were diverted to Brisbane Australia. There they were re-assembled and found to be missing parts, no self-sealing fuel tanks, no armor-plating and had worn out engines. Pilots referred to them as “Blue Rock Clay Pigeons”. These A-24s were now destined for Java but had to be ferried across Australia to Darwin. On February 10 1942 Banshee s/n 41-15755 was ferried by 2nd Lt. Jackson who became lost and crash landed. The aircraft was repaired but later was SOC (Struck Off Charge) on August 1944.

British Eagle, Douglas C-54E Skymaster 1/200 Die Cast Model. WWII in Europe had only ended a few months earlier when Overseas Airlines introduced the first commercial North Atlantic DC-4 service. Another first took place on March 7, 1946 when American Airlines introduced U.S. DC-4 domestic service between New York and Los Angeles. During the late 1940s and early 1950s the DC-4 and converted C-54s carried more passengers than any other four-engine transport. Amazingly many of these aircraft are still operating more than 60 years after they were first manufactured. British Eagle International Airlines was an independent that was in operation from 1948 to 1968. It started out as Eagle Aviation and evolved into British Eagle in 1963. In 1964 the airline took over Starways Airlines and their three DC-4s as well as various other types. Along with it came the schedule services and tours contracts. Not long after this British Eagle started to become non-profitable and in 1968 they liquidated their assets. G-ASPN started out with the USAAF as a C-54A and had about 12 different owners over its life time. The last registration for the aircraft was 9Q-CWP owned by Groupe Litho Moboti Aviation (GLM Aviation). In 1991 it was written off in Kinshasa Zaire after a crash due to engine failure with no fatalities. >>>FREE SHIPPING<<<.

F-100D Thunderbirds Major Neil Eddins, 1967. The North American F-100 Super Sabre served the USAF from 1954 to 1971 and the ANG until 1979. The F-100 commonly referred to as the “Hun”, a shortened version of “one hundred” was the first US fighter capable of attaining supersonic speed in level flight. The Hun was used extensively as close-air-support in South Vietnam. The F-100 suffered from landing gear and brake parachute failures, electrical problems, 500 of the 1,274 F- 100Ds that were built were lost mostly due to these failures. Major Neil Eddins was slot man with the USAF Aerial Demonstration Team (Thunderbirds) based at Nellis AFB from April 1959 to April 1961. After several other assignments and a tour of Vietnam that saw him fly over 100 combat missions Eddins returned to the US to become commander and lead pilot for the Thunderbirds in January 1967. After many more assignments and military colleges Neil Eddins was promoted to Major General on August 1, 1981. He retired from the military in 1984 but not before having flown over 5,600 hours and accumulating the DSM, Silver Star, Legion of Merit with oak leaf cluster, DFC with 14 oak leaf clusters, Meritorious Service Medal and Combat Readiness Medal.

First used in Vietnam by the 335th “Cowboys” AHC (Assault Helicopter Company) in October 1966 then the 128th “Gunslingers” AHC in February 1968. 64-13978 was referred to as a “Heavy Hog” because it had an optional weapons configuration of ""XM-3"" that installed 2 24-round rocket packs and removed the door guns, ""M-5"" that installed an M-75 40 mm grenade-launcher carrying 150 grenades. This UH-1B was shot down and destroyed in May 1969 without loss of life.

The turret turns, the main gun can be elevated and the commanders cupola can be opened. All items such as tow cables and shovels are molded separately and added once the professional painting has been completed. The wheels and the tracks roll, but a small pin is used to hold the track down on the wheels to give a much more realistic look. The tracks come already weathered, again to provide much more realism.
